Stanmore's homes range more widely than most of our patch. Up Stanmore Hill and around Bentley Priory — the former RAF Fighter Command headquarters, now a museum with smart apartments beside it — the houses are large and detached, with long staircases, deep-pile carpets and rugs that deserve careful handling.
